Smoky Southwest Seasoning

Makes About 1/4 cup

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a small bowl and stir until evenly combined.
  2. Transfer to an airtight spice jar or container.
  3. Use approximately 1 tablespoon of seasoning per pound of meat, adjusting to taste.
  4. For a dry rub, coat the meat evenly with the seasoning and let it rest for 15 to 30 minutes before grilling, baking, or roasting.

Notes & Tips

  • Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to your preferred level of heat.
  • This seasoning can also be used as a dry rub for grilling or roasting meats.
