House AP Seasoning

House AP Seasoning

Makes About 1/2 cup

The everyday go-to blend — a simple, savory combination of salt, pepper, garlic, and onion that works on just about anything from steaks and burgers to chicken, vegetables, and potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 3 tablespoons coarse-ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a small bowl and stir until evenly combined.
  2. Transfer to an airtight spice jar or shaker.
  3. Season meat, seafood, or vegetables evenly before cooking, starting with approximately 1 to 2 teaspoons per pound and adjusting to taste.
  4. For grilling or cast-iron cooking, season 15 to 30 minutes before cooking when time allows.

Notes & Tips

  • Keep this one close — it is designed to be the everyday seasoning for almost anything savory.
  • The small amount of smoked paprika adds color and a subtle background flavor without turning this into a barbecue rub.
  • For steaks and burgers, apply a little heavier to build a flavorful crust on the grill, griddle, or cast-iron skillet.
  • For seafood and vegetables, use a lighter coating and adjust to taste.
