Garlic Parmesan Seasoning

Garlic Parmesan Seasoning

Makes About 1/2 cup

A savory garlic-forward seasoning with Parmesan, herbs, and black pepper — perfect for chicken, potatoes, vegetables, and anything that could use a little garlicky, cheesy goodness.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon coarse-ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional

Instructions

  1. Add the garlic powder, Parmesan, parsley, onion powder, black pepper, Italian seasoning, salt, and optional red pepper flakes to a small bowl and stir until evenly combined.
  2. Transfer to an airtight spice jar or container.
  3. For chicken, lightly coat with olive oil and season evenly before grilling, baking, or cooking on the griddle.
  4. For potatoes and vegetables, toss with olive oil and seasoning before roasting, grilling, or cooking on the Blackstone.
  5. For an extra Parmesan finish, sprinkle a small amount of freshly grated Parmesan over the food immediately after cooking.

Notes & Tips

  • This seasoning is especially good anywhere garlic, Parmesan, and a little olive oil already sound like a good combination.
  • For chicken, use approximately 1 tablespoon of seasoning per pound and lightly coat the meat with olive oil before seasoning.
  • For vegetables, start with approximately 1 to 2 teaspoons per pound, toss with olive oil, and add more to taste after cooking.
  • This is an excellent choice for broccoli, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, zucchini, mushrooms, cabbage, and peppers cooked on the grill, Blackstone, or in cast iron.
  • For smashed potatoes, brush or drizzle the potatoes with olive oil or melted butter, season generously, then cook until crisp. Finish with additional Parmesan while hot.
  • Parmesan can brown quickly over very high direct heat. When cooking over intense heat, use a lighter coating during cooking and add additional seasoning or fresh Parmesan as a finishing touch.
  • For a richer garlic-Parmesan finish, combine 1 tablespoon of this seasoning with 2 tablespoons of melted butter and brush or toss with the cooked food.
  • The optional red pepper flakes add a gentle background heat and work especially well with chicken, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and potatoes.
