Grilled Asparagus with Lemon & Garlic
Serves 4 servings
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh asparagus, woody ends trimmed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese, optional
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat, about 400°F.
- Rinse the asparagus and pat it completely dry. Trim or snap off the woody ends.
- Place the asparagus in a shallow dish and drizzle with olive oil.
- Add the minced garlic, salt, and black pepper and toss until the asparagus is evenly coated.
- Place the asparagus directly across the grill grates so the spears do not fall through.
- Grill for 6 to 8 minutes, turning occasionally, until lightly charred and tender-crisp.
- Transfer the asparagus to a serving platter and immediately drizzle with fresh lemon juice.
- Sprinkle with lemon zest and Parmesan cheese, if using, and serve warm.
Notes & Tips
- Thicker asparagus spears work especially well on the grill.
- Avoid overcooking; the asparagus should remain slightly crisp in the center.
- A grill basket can be used for thinner asparagus.
- This makes an easy side for grilled chicken, steak, salmon, or shrimp.
