Grilled Asparagus with Lemon & Garlic

Grilled Asparagus with Lemon & Garlic

Serves 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh asparagus, woody ends trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat, about 400°F.
  2. Rinse the asparagus and pat it completely dry. Trim or snap off the woody ends.
  3. Place the asparagus in a shallow dish and drizzle with olive oil.
  4. Add the minced garlic, salt, and black pepper and toss until the asparagus is evenly coated.
  5. Place the asparagus directly across the grill grates so the spears do not fall through.
  6. Grill for 6 to 8 minutes, turning occasionally, until lightly charred and tender-crisp.
  7. Transfer the asparagus to a serving platter and immediately drizzle with fresh lemon juice.
  8. Sprinkle with lemon zest and Parmesan cheese, if using, and serve warm.

Notes & Tips

  • Thicker asparagus spears work especially well on the grill.
  • Avoid overcooking; the asparagus should remain slightly crisp in the center.
  • A grill basket can be used for thinner asparagus.
  • This makes an easy side for grilled chicken, steak, salmon, or shrimp.
